.:Cell Physiology:.

Cell are considered the basic structure and function of the human body. - What is ment by this statement?
Cells are the first stage of our bodies that are considered "living"- Cells have a structure that have to work together to complete a certain task. There are a lot of cells in the body and each one has its own compartment. The whole body relies of the functions of the the cells. Weather to serve as protection, oxygen carriers, or little factories; cells play the first role in how our bodies work.

Compare and contrast passive and active transport. Include characteristics and examples of each type of transport cells use to maintain homeostasis.
Passive Transport- movement between higher and lower concentration of molecules and ions across a membrane. ( It lets the concentration do all the work.)
Some types of passive transport use simple diffusion, facilitated diffusion and osmosis to transport molecules.

  • It doesn't require metabolic energy.

This type of passive transport moves by facilitated diffusion:

Another type of passive transport is through osmosis

Active Transport-
movement against concentration across a membrane.Sometimes a cell need to take in or output molecules agaisnt its gradient. The cell uses energy to work pumps to either expel or take in molecules. One example of this is the Na+/K+ pump. This pump helps maintain the concentration of Na+ out of the cell and K+ into the cell membrane.
  • This required ATP to be used

Why do cells need to bring molecules and out of the cell membrane?
Cells need to transfer molecules through their cell membranes because all of your systems count on the secretions that the cells produce and enzymes that cause an action to occur. The actions of bring molecules in/ out of the cell sell maintains homeostasis

How do cells communicate?

These little factories communicate by specific protein receptors. They package and transmit extra cellular signals molecules changing the signals into cellular responses.

Fun Fact:There are more living organisms on the skin of a single human being than there are human beings on the surface of the earth.
